We at Y Collaborative believe everybody should be prepared when they walk into a health care crisis – and the timing is out of our control.
Death is not a morbid subject. Death is what happens to us at the end of our lives. It happens to all of us — virtuous, violent, kind or dastardly. The time to think about end-of- life issues is when we are healthy, happy and able to take in information and think about decisions without feeling our brains have turned to mush.
We don’t know when something bad will happen. But having the right paperwork, the right family conversations, the right mental synapses in place can reduce our stress and anxiety and help us make better choices. It doesn’t require a huge amount of time and effort to begin preparation. It may, however, require a huge nudge to get you started. Let us nudge you!
Leaving life is never going to be easy for most of us. But we believe we can make facing the demands that come with end-of-life easier for the person who is ill or unexpectedly hurt and those who love that person.
